Casual Valentine’s Day

Casual Valentines Day

Dress: Charles Henry | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Handbag: Kate Spade | Earrings: Bony Levy (Similar Style Here) | Lipstick: Bobbi Brown

Well, January has totally flown by! I have been saying this forever now but I swear each month goes by faster and faster. But, the good thing is that one of my favorite holidays is coming up soon! Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating the ones you love. It doesn’t necessarily mean you need to have a significant other to enjoy the holiday. Whether you are celebrating SAD (Single’s Awareness Day) or are hopelessly in love, this holiday is for YOU!

Sutton and I don’t really go all out for Valentine’s Day because our anniversary is a few days later. So, we like to keep it casual and go to eat at one of our usual places or cook a nice meal at home. For the longest time, we would always forget about Valentine’s Day and somehow end up at Rosas Cafe! #2 for 2 please!

I love this multi-colored floral dress because it is perfect for a casual night in or out. Especially paired with these short block heels. They give just enough height and make you feel a little bit fancier. And, can we talk about this bag?! Seriously, how amazing are these colors together? I would carry this bag everyday if I could!

I will probably be wearing something very similar for our Valentine’s Day date. We haven’t planned anything yet, so if you have any ideas please shoot them my way! What are y’all doing for V-day?

XOXO,

Jill

Sweater Dress

Dress: E. Leigh’s (Similar Style Here, Here and Here) | Shoes: Sam Edelman (On Sale!) | Purse: Kate Spade, Old (Similar Style Here) | Sunglasses (Similar Style Here) | Earrings: Kate Spade | Ring: David Yurman

I actually picked this sweater dress up without even trying it on. This is completely out of character for me but my favorite boutique, E. Leigh’s, was having a buy one, get one free sale so I needed a second item to get the deal. I somehow missed this little number one my first pass through the store but it caught my eye the second time around!

I typically steer away from sweater dresses when I see them because they are usually shapeless and unflattering on me. But, I love the style of this dress and how it incorporates two huge trends. Bell sleeves and the lace-up neckline emerged in 2016 and are definitely picking up momentum in 2017. I love how these two trends give a nod to the past but still feel fresh and unique. That is one of my favorite things about fashion; what’s old is new again!

What is your favorite trend of the moment?

Jill

Dressing for a Warm Fall

Warm Fall

|  1.  |  2.  |  3.  |  4.  |  5.  |  6.  |  7.  |

The heat here in Dallas has been relentless! It has been so hard to get motivated to pull out my fall wardrobe. I went shopping last weekend and picked up so many great sweaters but I couldn’t bring myself to try them on because it is too dang hot! So, I’ve been trying to find some alternatives to lightweight jackets, knit sweaters and over-the-knee boots.

One way to convey fall through your wardrobe is to incorporate thicker fabrics in lighter silhouettes. Wearing velvet, suede, leather and knits in pieces like a camisole or mini skirt can instantly make your outfit feel seasonally appropriate. I personally love the suede mini skirt!

What’s your favorite way to dress for a warm fall?

XOXO,

Jill

Engagement Party Tips for the Bride

As if it weren’t already official, we’re getting married! We have finally decided on a wedding date, and I just can’t contain my excitement. We will be getting married at Villa Antonia in Austin, Texas on June 17, 2017.

After getting engaged in February, I knew that I wanted to take a little time before planning the wedding. It was important for me to enjoy our engagement before feeling the pressures of planning a wedding. So, I didn’t actually start looking for a venue until June. We were torn between having a destination wedding in Colorado or a local wedding. After lots of thought we decided to have the celebration here in Texas.

Villa Antonia was ironically the first venue we toured. I loved it so much and knew before even visiting that this was where I wanted to tie the knot. But, before signing on the dotted line, we wanted to explore all of our options. Once we visited a few different venues, compared pricing and made sure it was within our budget we came to a conclusion. There is still a ton of planning to be done, but I’m glad I have checked one box off of my mile-long wedding to do list!

XOXO,

Jill

First of Fall

Well, it’s August. I’m not feeling too pumped for this month because that means summer is unfortunately coming to an end. Though there really isn’t a reason for me to be upset, since I’m not in school anymore, and you don’t get summer vacation in adult world. But, I don’t think I will ever get over that feeling you have when you know summer is over.

There are very few things I can tolerate about fall and winter, but the one thing at the very top of the list would be the clothing. Cute clothes just make everything better, including working out (insert shocked emoji face here). I love jeans, boots, cozy sweaters and especially fluffy blanket scarves. It’s still way too hot to layer up, but you can still give a nod to fall by throwing a flannel or chambray around your waist. It’s a very easy styling trick that may take you back to the 90’s, but it will definitely have you feeling a little more seasonally appropriate.

On another note, I’m going to the Dixie Chicks concert here in Dallas tomorrow and I am beyond excited! That is definitely going to be one of my highlights of the summer. Are any of you Dallas girlies going to the concert?

XOXO,

Jill
